Solving unity candle issue at an outdoor wedding
SweetBottom

Ours is actually a vow renewal. 5 years ago our beach wedding was cancelled SweetBottom due to a hurrricane. Since we are already married we are including the Registered User children and making it a ''family candle''.
Our original plan Joined: Sunday, 25th of April 2010, 13:43:51 was this: Each of our (5-his parents are divorced, father remarried for 26 Posts: 131 years) parents will light a taper and each of our family (us and 3 Viewed 8879 times children) will use one to light the big candle together. But then
there is the problem of them beig blown out. So another option is
this: Each of the parents carries a small container of candle making wax
beads and pours them into a glass container put in place of where the
pillar candle would be. Then the tapers can be lit at the last minute and
passed around to the children and if the big candle blows out after beign
lit it blows out it is no big deal. Takes care of wind issues and still
symbolizes a blending.
Second option sound OK? Any other
suggestions with it? We've looked into the sand instead but are not crazy
about it.

Look into unity sand ceremonies. They can be done with Cherry Berry? several different colors and look beautiful sitting on the mantle with no Registered User potential fire accidents. Joined: Tuesday, 8th of June 2010, 04:09:56 Posts: 1041 Viewed 16392 times

you can put it into a hurricane votive to block the wind, it gigglebutt<3 isn't graceful but you can use those long lighters, or you can even get Registered User the little gold acolytes lighters. Joined: Friday, 16th of April 2010, 22:14:51 Posts: 185 Viewed 6182 times

I really like the second option. I like how everyone is Tookie Bear involved in their own way. Go with second option. Registered User Joined: Tuesday, 1st of June 2010, 16:34:27 Posts: 1355 Viewed 881 times

some counties actually do not allow candles at outdoor weddings Bubba (fire codes), those that do often require a hurricane that comes up higher Registered User than the candle. Maybe something like that could work for you? Joined: Sunday, 6th of June 2010, 16:31:56 Posts: 1225 Viewed 17405 times What if the parents carried tapers, the kids lit them then the two of you
lit the unity together? In fact if you want to send me a private message
I may be able to find some family unity candle words.
Also, if you're interested in a sand ceremony for outdoors- that could be
done with multiple colors of sand & then the big container could be a
permanent reminder of the blending. :)
Best of luck.
PS - I recently responded to a post on a wedding but we're already married
question, & I said in almost every case I wouldn't go to a do-over - ur
situation would be that exception. In fact you're properly calling it a
renewal celebration & hopefully doing it very close to ur actual
anniversary date.
Congrats & happy anniversary.
