Plastic is okay as long as it is a thermoset plastic such as

phenolic. This material is commonly used to make ashtrays and will not

Container candles are the easiest candle to make in my opinion.

When choosing a container, make sure that it won't catch on fire. No

matter how beautiful a container looks do NOT use plastic, wooden, or
porous containers for ur candles. Make sure also that it will not leak or
crack. The container you choose must also be heat resistant. Try ceramic
bowls or metal tins. Even clear glass is okay as long as you have verified
that it can withstand the heat of candle burning first.

Unscented candles are easiest because there is no fragrance measuring. Be
sure to check with ur fragrance provider to make sure that ur selection is
okay for candles & the type of wax you have selected. Now, determine the
type of wax you want to use. There are a variety of chooses from
traditional paraffin wax to vegetable waxes which include soybean wax,
beeswax, or palm.

Needed materials:

You will need a heat source such as a stove top or hot plate

A double boiler - this can be made with a melting pot that holds the wax &
a standard kitchen pot with boiling water.

Your wax

An appropriate wick

Your selected container

Fragrance & color, if desired

Something to hold ur wick in place while ur candle cures

A thermometer

These are essentially all the materials you will need for a basic candle.
Please be sure to check out the sources I referenced for safety guidelines
& for step-by-step instructions on making ur candle. Believe me, the
steps become second nature after awhile, but you must never forget safety.
Good luck with ur candle making!

Plastic is OK for a mold.

It is NOT OK for containing a lit candle.

DO NOT put a pot of wax directly on a gas burner.
